My Hospital Bag Checklist

Who knew packing for the hospital would be so hard? Apparently everyone but me…

At first, my list looked like I was going on vacation for 2 weeks. I had my husband take a look and he asked me if I realized that the plan was to actually leave the hospital with our baby and not to move in. After a good laugh at myself I hit the books and the blogs for some research and most importantly asked my fellow moms and moms-to-be what they would consider MUST HAVES. Check out my list below!

  • Nursing pads or Milkies Milk Savers
  • Toiletries: face wash, body wash, shampoo & conditioner, tooth brush & paste
  • Boppy nursing pillow
  • Slippers
  • 2 Robes with matching nursing gowns
  • Nipple cream
  • Chapstick
  • Hand lotion
  • Make up
  • Bellefit Recovery Corset
  • Hair Brush & Hair Tie
  • Straightener
  • Cell phone charger
  • Portable Mophie charger
  • Nursing bra
  • Nipple shields
  • Always Underwear Diapers
  • Going home outfit
    • I chose a black maxi dress with sweater

For the car:

  • Carseat
  • Backseat Mirror

For my outfits, I decided to go with two: black and pink nursing gowns with matching color robes. After childbirth, it’s important to try all that you can to start feeling more comfortable and back to normal, and it’s definitely harder to do that if you’re stuck in a hospital gown. Bringing a pair of comfy slippers to wear around the room can also help protect your feet from the cold hospital floors.

For the baby, a swaddle is an essential. My mom friends have all been raving about velcro swaddles, so I went with the Ollie Swaddle because it is both made from a breathable material and easy to use!
